Environmentally Viable Electronic City
Funded within the 'e-Content' programme of the European Commission, the ENV-e-CITY project was launched January 2002. The background of this project was the need of European cities to perform assessments for complying with the EU environmental legislation, as well as the requirement for efficient environmental impact assessments.
Both types of assessments are only possible on the basis of sufficient and reliable environmental information. Moreover, appropriate tools - in general models - have to be applied to process this data, and in most cases non-expert users encounter problems in selecting and then using the proper tools.
